The Catholic Fraternity, an association of catholic charismatic and covenant communities recognised by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 1990, gathered in Assisi in late October 2013, to elect its new office bearers.
The elections of October 30th were presided over by Matteo Calisi (Comunità di Gesù, Italy), who concluded his third and final mandate as President. Gilberto Gomes Barbosa (Eis ai tua Mãe!, Brazil) was elected President, Pino Scafuro (Comunidad de Convivencias, Argentina) Vice-Presidente, and Archbisop Alberto Taveira Corrêa (Archdiocese of Belém do Pará, Brazil), spiritual advisor.
On October 29th, Msgr. Miguel Delgado Galindo, Under-Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, took part in a working session of the Catholic Fraternity’s Council. He transmitted the greetings of the Dicastery’s President and Secretary and encouraged the delegates, coming from almost one hundred communities, to look towards the future with trust, in an attitude of commitment and responsibility.
